The company and its aircraft
Westland’s aircraft work began in Yeovil in 1915, before it became a separate company from Petters. It produced aeroplanes including the Lysander and shifted its emphasis toward helicopters after the Second World War. In 1961 a wider industrial combination formed Westland Helicopters.
