The company and its aircraft
Airbus Industrie was established in 1970 to develop a European widebody airliner. The industrial partnership evolved through the creation of EADS and the later Airbus corporate identity. The company’s activities span commercial aircraft, defence and space, and helicopters; those divisions and their earlier names are distinguished in this reference.
