The company and its aircraft
William Boeing founded the company in Seattle in 1916. Its history now includes the businesses and aircraft programmes brought into Boeing through later combinations, including McDonnell Douglas in 1997. Those corporate links do not make every earlier aircraft a Boeing design: the original Douglas, McDonnell Douglas, North American and Stearman identities remain visible here.
