Continuing the Model 8 lineage
American Champion resumed the Model 7 and Model 8 family after acquiring their type certificates in 1988. Its modern production introduced metal-spar wings while retaining the tandem-seat taildragger layout.

Two modern aerobatic variants
The manufacturer distinguishes the 180 hp Super Decathlon from the 210 hp Xtreme Decathlon. Both include inverted-flight equipment, but power and empty-weight differences make them distinct entries within the aerobatic family.
