Aircraft and simulator background
The Scout configurations in Hangar Studios 713's handbook adapt a high-wing utility aircraft to wheels and floats. The 26-inch-wheel and amphibious versions use the 180 hp O-360-C1G. The 35-inch-tyre Denali uses a 210 hp IO-390-A1B6.

The handbook separates the 180 hp O-360-C1G used with 26-inch wheels or floats from the 210 hp IO-390-A1B6 in the 35-inch-tyre Denali. The amphibious configuration has wheel retraction and water rudders. Its CAS and IAS speed tables disagree, so their labels and values are retained as a documentation conflict.

History & design
A utility aircraft in the Champion family
American Champion traces its tandem-taildragger family to the Aeronca Champion. The company acquired Model 7 and Model 8 type certificates in 1988 and had new production underway by 1990, continuing both utility and aerobatic branches.

The Scout branch continues to develop
The current Scout range pairs the 180 hp Scout with the 210 hp Denali Scout. Both are listed at a 2,150 lb maximum gross weight, illustrating why the engine variant remains part of the aircraft identity.
