Meet Beechcraft 1900D
The 1900D is a twin-turboprop transport arranged for nineteen passengers. Beechcraft’s contemporary advertising emphasized a taller cabin, with 71 inches between floor and headliner, and the ability to carry passengers or cargo. That stand-up interior is the feature the manufacturer used to distinguish the D model’s utility.
History & design
A commuter designed around a taller cabin
Beechcraft promoted the 1900D's cabin as a major part of its appeal. A contemporary 1990 manufacturer advertisement specifies 71 inches from its flat floor to the headliner, while retaining nineteen passenger seats. The same presentation describes a mission-support role as well as civilian transport, with cabin access and cargo space central to the design.
The advertisement pairs that cabin with PT6A-67 engines and publishes performance for stated loading and reserve assumptions. Its maximum-range figure and its nineteen-passenger IFR mission range describe different cases. Keeping those conditions attached to the figures avoids turning a historical sales specification into a promise for every flight.
