Meet Cessna 340

Carenado’s C340 II presents a piston-twin cockpit with two GNS430 navigation units. The developer’s X-Plane 11 package includes a dedicated fuel-system description as well as normal and emergency procedures. Its paired engine and navigation controls place fuel management alongside the flight path as an explicit part of the cockpit documentation.

The rendition supports an optional RealityXP GTN750 installation. That choice changes the navigation interface without changing the aircraft model named by the product. The GNS430-equipped cockpit and optional GTN installation remain separately described equipment choices.

HOW IT CAME TO BE

History & design

A light twin used for atmospheric research

NASA’s campaign catalogue records a Cessna 340 platform in the 1992–1993 TOGA COARE programme over the western Pacific. That is one research-aircraft use of the 340 family, alongside its ordinary transport role. The page contains inconsistent propulsion wording; no engine specification is taken from it.

A documented fuel-management cockpit

Carenado lists the C340’s fuel-system description among the package documents, together with procedures and a quick-reference guide. The product is authored for X-Plane 11, with its engine and ground dynamics described at that simulator scope.

Pilot accounts

Glenn Chiappe

“”

Pilot Glenn Chiappe describes N1238R as a straightforward aircraft for one- to three-hour trips, with pressurization and cabin space central to its usefulness. His example has RAM engines, additional nacelle fuel tanks, an S-TEC 55X autopilot and an Aspen display. He notes that its six-tank fuel system takes familiarity and that the Hartzell Scimitar propellers slow the aircraft quickly when power is reduced in the flare. Those observations concern this modified aircraft, rather than every stock 340 or simulator package.
