Meet Cessna S550 Citation S/II

Carenado’s S550 represents the Citation S/II, a named development within the Citation II line. The product supplies its own performance reference, procedures, EFIS and multifunction-display guides. Its cockpit therefore combines the aircraft’s flight controls with an electronic instrument and navigation installation particular to this rendition.

HOW IT CAME TO BE

History & design

The Citation II and the later S/II

The Citation II expanded the original Citation concept with more cabin space and thrust. The Model 550 entered the series in 1977. The later S/II changed the wing shape, nacelles and pylons and used JT15D-4B engines that retained more thrust at altitude. It also replaced the earlier pneumatic de-icing boots with TKS fluid ice protection.

These distinctions explain why the S550 rendition should not inherit every specification of a straight 550 or the later Bravo. Aftermarket engine conversions add another branch to the family, with their own performance figures.
