Coordinated surfaces and trim

The manual identifies aileron cables and bellcranks and elevator rods and cables. Pitch trim changes stabiliser position, while roll trim acts through the right-aileron servo tab. Forward-wing and main-wing flaps operate in coordination. Autopilot autotrim and yaw damping have separate functions.

Meet Piaggio P.180 Avanti II

The P.180 combines forward aerodynamic surfaces, rear-mounted pusher propellers and a pressurised executive cabin. FlightFX's manual describes cable-and-bellcrank aileron controls and elevator runs using rods and cables.

Pitch trim moves the horizontal stabiliser, while roll trim uses a servo tab on the right aileron. The original MSFS 2020 and native MSFS 2024 packages have separate product descriptions.

HOW IT CAME TO BE

History & design

The Avanti II announcement

Piaggio announced the Avanti II in October 2004 as a further development of the Avanti. A Pro Line 21 flight deck with three large displays and an FMS 3000 was a central change. The launch also described higher permitted weights and cabin improvements, linking the new name to systems and payload changes as well as performance.

Model years matter

The same announcement separated the initial Avanti II from an upgraded PT6-66B engine installation planned for the 2006 model year. It is therefore useful to keep the selected simulator’s engine and avionics specification beside its profile. The launch chronology is historical context, not proof that every Avanti or Avanti II has identical equipment.
