Piaggio P.180 Avanti II

A twin-engine pusher turboprop with forward lifting surfaces and a pressurised cabin.

Family reading context for Piaggio P.180 Avanti II.

Meet the aircraft

The P.180 combines forward aerodynamic surfaces, rear-mounted pusher propellers and a pressurised executive cabin. FlightFX's manual describes cable-and-bellcrank aileron controls and elevator runs using rods and cables.

Pitch trim moves the horizontal stabiliser, while roll trim uses a servo tab on the right aileron. The original MSFS 2020 and native MSFS 2024 packages have separate product descriptions.

The simulator model and controls

A twin-engine pusher turboprop with forward lifting surfaces and a pressurised cabin.

How this profile feels

Spring resistance builds with the selected airspeed response. A separate aerodynamic term adds speed-dependent control load.

Pitch-trim relief is off. Autopilot following is off.

Aircraft and configuration

The Avanti II uses cable/bellcrank aileron controls and rod/cable elevator controls.

Pitch trim moves the horizontal stabilizer; roll trim moves a right-aileron tab.

Coordinated surfaces and trim

The manual identifies aileron cables and bellcranks and elevator rods and cables. Pitch trim changes stabiliser position, while roll trim acts through the right-aileron servo tab. Forward-wing and main-wing flaps operate in coordination. Autopilot autotrim and yaw damping have separate functions.

The original FlightFX P180

The original P180 product explicitly targets MSFS 2020.

About the values

Strengths are normalized hardware-feel settings. They set the effect balance; hand force depends on the device and its limits. The IAS reference is a tuning value.

What the documentation establishes

The Avanti II uses cable/bellcrank aileron controls and rod/cable elevator controls.

Pitch trim moves the horizontal stabilizer; roll trim moves a right-aileron tab.

The Avanti II has twin PT6A-66B pusher turboprops, retractable gear and forward- and main-wing flaps.

QSpring Minimum FactorStarting value0.55 What it controls and whySets low-speed spring strength as a fraction of baseline when blending is enabled. One keeps full strength.
Airspeed spring stiffening gainStarting value0.15 What it controls and whyThe high-speed spring-stiffening gain is 0.15. It strengthens the permitted spring response above 65 KIAS, with the squared-speed ratio capped at 5.
Airspeed spring stiffening limitStarting value5 What it controls and whyLimits the squared airspeed ratio used for high-speed spring stiffening; it is not a device-force cap.
Elevator AuthorityStarting value0 What it controls and whyPitch trim: Moving stabiliser. Pitch relief is off, with stored authority 0; roll authority is 0.
Aileron AuthorityStarting value0 What it controls and whyScales supported roll-trim relief and permitted centre movement. Zero removes roll response.

Stick shaker amplitudeStarting value0.5 What it controls and whySets triggered shaker strength; inactive while the shaker feature is disabled.
EnabledStarting valueEnabled What it controls and whyEnables ground effects; each still needs its own strength and contact or motion telemetry.
GainStarting value0.42 What it controls and whySets rolling texture strength, modified by speed, surface and undercarriage configuration.
GainStarting value0.32 What it controls and whySets gear-bump texture during ground motion, separate from touchdown impact.
GainStarting value0.82 What it controls and whySets landing-impact strength; landing telemetry and response shape determine the pulse.
GainStarting value0 What it controls and whySets reverse-thrust vibration with valid reverser and engine conditions. Zero removes the cue.
EnabledStarting valueEnabled What it controls and whyEnables engine cues with nonzero settings and valid running-engine telemetry.
GainStarting value0.06 What it controls and whySets estimated engine vibration using configured telemetry and response, not measured cockpit vibration.
EnabledStarting valueEnabled What it controls and whyEnables accessory cues with configured strengths and observed accessory movement.
GainStarting value0.12 What it controls and whySets texture from observed flap movement; a command without movement does not establish the cue.
GainStarting value0.12 What it controls and whySets texture from observed gear movement, separate from aerodynamic and touchdown effects.
Limits and open questions
  • Piaggio P.180 Avanti II is a universal type/configuration starting point. The separately documented current product supplies availability scope; this does not assert installed matching or edition qualification.
  • Trim-force mapping, autopilot follow/neutral hold, custom shaker/pusher and hydraulic-failure loads remain disabled until their exact signal and equipment contracts are qualified.
  • Force and texture magnitudes are inherited editable estimates. Owner physical and installed-aircraft acceptance remain pending.
  • Pitch-stabilizer travel, trim-switch units and AP autotrim need implementation-specific qualification. Propeller RPM is not a thrust or propwash measurement.

Physical validation

No physical force validation is recorded in this public catalogue for this revision. Documentary review and software checks do not establish how a particular device feels.
