History & design
The first major Sonex-family revision
The B-model range was introduced at Sun ’n Fun in April 2016. In his factory visit and flight report, Paul Dye describes it as the first major upgrade to the original Sonex/Waiex design, available with the Sonex’s conventional tail or the Waiex’s Y-tail.

More room drives the redesign
Removing the original fuselage taper between the seat and firewall made space for a wider engine installation and cockpit. A taller, vertical instrument panel accommodated larger displays. These were B-family changes; Dye’s flight evaluation itself used a Waiex-B, so its flying impressions are not a direct Sonex-B test.
