The company and its aircraft
Dornier Flugzeugwerke began in Friedrichshafen and produced aircraft for both civil and military use. The company’s name is particularly visible in the history of large flying boats. Later aircraft carrying the Dornier name need to be read in their own programme and ownership context, rather than as an unchanged century-old product range.
