The company and its aircraft

Founded in 1971, Erickson became known for operating and producing the S-64 in heavy-lift and firefighting work. Its earlier corporate name, Erickson Air-Crane, reflected that close association. The aircraft’s original Sikorsky development remains part of the S-64 history rather than disappearing under the later manufacturer’s name.
