History & design
The original regional-jet programme
The CRJ family first flew in 1991 and received Canadian certification in 1992. Its subsequent growth produced several distinct airframes and capacities; the original regional jet and later stretches should not be treated as a single set of performance numbers.

A family that kept developing
Later CRJ700, CRJ900 and CRJ1000 programmes extended the regional-jet line into larger capacities. MHI acquired the CRJ programme in June 2020, continuing its support through MHI RJ Aviation.
