History & design
A rugged liaison and observation aircraft
Max Holste designed the MH-1521 Broussard as an all-metal, braced high-wing aircraft for operation from unprepared fields. The military MH-1521M entered French service in 1957 and undertook liaison, observation, supply and casualty-transport work in Algeria.

Civil work after military service
Broussards also served small airlines and parachuting clubs, and operated outside France. The museum’s account records the last French Air Force retirement in 1987, followed by a continuing life in private ownership, preservation and air displays.

Systems & details
Controls and equipment
The MSFS manual describes the engine, flaps and trim. Medical seating and the bomb-labelled switch are configuration features rather than changes to the primary controls.
Radial-engine utility cockpit
Restauravia’s manual identifies the Broussard’s nine-cylinder Pratt & Whitney R-985 radial engine and H-shaped tail. Its cockpit guide distinguishes the flap switch and indicator, low-fuel warnings, fuel injector and pump, magneto selector and pneumatic-system controls. These are useful landmarks in a cockpit designed around observation, liaison and evacuation work. The preserved documentation describes the MSFS 2020 model and also identifies a separately derived MSFS 2024 version.
