Meet Embraer Phenom 100

The Phenom 100 is the EMB-500 light business jet. The NTSB’s description of the original model identifies two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW617F-E engines and a Garmin-based automatic-flight installation. Its cockpit includes a stall-warning and protection system with AoA sensors, a warning computer and an actuator connected to the elevator control system.

The protection system provides aural warning, low-speed awareness indications and a stick-pusher action. Its thresholds change with the aircraft’s ice-protection configuration.

HOW IT CAME TO BE

History & design

The Phenom 100 gains its original approval

ANAC presented the Embraer 500 type certificate on 9 December 2008. The Phenom 100's review had begun in 2005 under the former Brazilian authority before continuing at ANAC. The regulator describes a programme involving more than 700 documents, inspections and tests. This establishes the original aircraft generation, before the later EV and EX developments and their revised systems.

A later flight-deck generation

Embraer’s Phenom 100EX page identifies Garmin G3000 Prodigy Touch and runway-overrun awareness equipment. Those details identify the EX development within the family; Cockspur PH100 and Carenado E50P are separately named simulator renditions.

Warning and protection on the original EMB-500

The NTSB report separates the aural warning and airspeed-display cues from the actuator that pushes the column forward. It also explains that ice-protection selection changes the warning/protection schedule. These are configuration-dependent aircraft systems.

msfs2020 official documented scope reviewed2026-10-11 · NTSB AAR-16/01 sections 1.3–1.3.2 describe original EMB-500/Phenom 100 equipment, including a 2009 aircraft. These are physical background facts, not current Cockspur system/telemetry validation, Phenom 100EV/300 applicability or simulator availability evidence.

The simulator model and controls

Cockspur PH100 Phenom 100 is the selected Cockspur configuration.

How this profile feels

Spring resistance builds with the selected airspeed response. A separate aerodynamic term adds speed-dependent control load.

Pitch-trim relief is off. Autopilot following is off.

Aircraft and configuration

Developer identifies its Phenom100 rendition and requires cold-dark ramp starts.

The NTSB describes the original EMB-500/Phenom 100 as a low-wing T-tail aircraft with rear-mounted turbofans and fully retractable tricycle landing gear. Its 2009 example used PW617F-E engines.

About the values

Strengths are normalized hardware-feel settings. They set the effect balance; hand force depends on the device and its limits. The IAS reference is a tuning value.

What the documentation establishes

Developer identifies its Phenom100 rendition and requires cold-dark ramp starts.

The NTSB describes the original EMB-500/Phenom 100 as a low-wing T-tail aircraft with rear-mounted turbofans and fully retractable tricycle landing gear. Its 2009 example used PW617F-E engines.

For the original EMB-500, the report describes an aural stall warning and a rotary electromechanical stick-pusher actuator connected to the elevator control system.

The original EMB-500 Garmin integrated autopilot is designed to disengage when it receives a stall-warning signal from the stall-warning/protection computer.

Exact configured values with software explanations. Force magnitudes remain editable estimates; disabled features retain inactive values.

Estimated starting settings · revision 1
SettingStarting valueWhat it controls and why
Spring deadbandStarting value0.04 What it controls and whySets travel around the centre before the baseline spring resists. Smaller values engage it sooner.
QBlend EnabledStarting valueEnabled What it controls and whyAllows baseline spring strength to rise with indicated airspeed where the control law permits it.

Airspeed spring stiffening gainStarting value0.15 What it controls and whyThe high-speed spring-stiffening gain is 0.15. It strengthens the permitted spring response above 105 KIAS, with the squared-speed ratio capped at 5.
Airspeed spring stiffening limitStarting value5 What it controls and whyLimits the squared airspeed ratio used for high-speed spring stiffening; it is not a device-force cap.

Force Trim EnabledStarting valueDisabled What it controls and whyEnables local force trim, separate from aircraft-owned trim and add-on integration qualification.
GLoad EnabledStarting valueEnabled What it controls and whyAllows load-factor changes to modify permitted spring laws. Passive fly-by-wire feel can suppress it.
Rate Damping EnabledStarting valueEnabled What it controls and whyEnables rate damping with the configured coefficients and control law.
Autopilot followStarting valueDisabled What it controls and whyAutopilot following is off; the configured spring and load retain the hardware feel.
Autopilot follow authorityStarting value0.1 What it controls and whySets admitted AP-follow gain, not a percentage of travel. Runtime ownership and input limits still apply.
Autopilot neutral holdStarting valueDisabled What it controls and whyPermits centering hold during a supported AP state, separate from following a moving target.
Autopilot neutral hold strengthStarting value0.6 What it controls and whySets admitted AP neutral-hold strength; inactive while neutral hold is disabled.

GainStarting value0 What it controls and whySets high-Mach buffet strength; onset and full-strength thresholds are separate.
GainStarting value0 What it controls and whySets flap buffet at the configured position and speed gates. Flap movement texture is separate.
Maximum flap indexStarting value3 What it controls and whySets the final flap index for detent normalization. UP plus three detents uses maximum index3.
Minimum flap indexStarting value2 What it controls and whySets the first flap detent that admits buffet; this is a handle index, not degrees.
GainStarting value0 What it controls and whySets gear aerodynamic buffet; movement and ground-contact cues are separate.
Shaker EnabledStarting valueDisabled What it controls and whyPermits shaker at supported warning conditions; the switch does not establish aircraft equipment.

GainStarting value0.4 What it controls and whySets rolling texture strength, modified by speed, surface and undercarriage configuration.
GainStarting value0.25 What it controls and whySets gear-bump texture during ground motion, separate from touchdown impact.
GainStarting value0.65 What it controls and whySets landing-impact strength; landing telemetry and response shape determine the pulse.
GainStarting value0 What it controls and whySets reverse-thrust vibration with valid reverser and engine conditions. Zero removes the cue.
EnabledStarting valueDisabled What it controls and whyEnables engine cues with nonzero settings and valid running-engine telemetry.
EnabledStarting valueEnabled What it controls and whyEnables accessory cues with configured strengths and observed accessory movement.
Limits and open questions
  • Developer does not guarantee full function after air/runway start. Exact controls/trim and installed gear signals require checking.
  • Physical FFB, installed add-on matching and cross-platform runtime acceptance are deferred. No certification or simulator-vendor endorsement is implied.
  • Unqualified physical AP following, neutral hold, force trim, native force additions, hardware failures and input compensation are disabled.
  • The NTSB report supplies original-aircraft equipment background only. Pusher force/activation thresholds are not copied into this profile; trim geometry, normal primary-control-force transmission and current simulator servo signals remain unresolved.

Physical validation

No physical force validation is recorded in this public catalogue for this revision. Documentary review and software checks do not establish how a particular device feels.
