THE AIRCRAFT

Meet Schleicher ASK 21

The ASK 21 uses a glass-fibre structure, long wings and a T-tail. Its tandem cockpit allows an instructor and student to share the aircraft, while its design also supports cross-country and aerobatic instruction within the appropriate limits.

In X-Plane, the aircraft provides a documented entry into aerotow and winch launching, together with sailplane instruments such as the total-energy variometer. Those are useful reference topics without turning an aircraft page into a real-world training course.
