AIRCRAFT MANUFACTURER

Curtiss

An early American aircraft and engine manufacturer associated with Glenn Curtiss.

The company and its aircraft

Glenn Curtiss and Augustus Herring established the business that became Curtiss Aeroplane and Motor Company in Hammondsport, New York. In 1929 Curtiss combined with Wright Aeronautical to form Curtiss-Wright. The Curtiss name remained closely associated with later aircraft, even after that corporate change.
