AIRCRAFT MANUFACTURER

Hawker Siddeley

A British aircraft group formed from several earlier manufacturers.

The company and its aircraft

Hawker Siddeley combined the histories of a number of British aircraft companies. By the 1960s it was one of the country’s two principal aircraft groups, and in 1977 its aviation business became part of British Aerospace. Those changes explain why the Hawk can be encountered under both Hawker Siddeley and BAe names.
