McDonnell Douglas

The American aerospace company created by the 1967 McDonnell and Douglas merger.

The company and its aircraft

McDonnell Douglas combined the businesses of McDonnell Aircraft and Douglas Aircraft in 1967. It produced civil and military aircraft before becoming part of Boeing in 1997. The earlier Douglas name and the later Boeing ownership remain separate relationships, helping readers follow the history of each programme.
