FOR AIRCRAFT DEVELOPERS

Research aircraft and systems

Find aircraft background, systems descriptions and manuals for the aircraft you are researching. Each note keeps its source and version context close by.

Simulator manuals describe the developer’s implementation. Aircraft background is research-based; pilot accounts describe an individual’s experience. Coverage here is limited to the selected notes and linked resources, not the full contents of every manual.

Career configuration changed in Sim Update 4

Microsoft’s release notes removed passenger and flightseeing specialisations and recorded fixes for cargo and construction checks. These are changes documented for version 1.6.32.0.

Loading into flight received a specific fix

The same update added saved-flight collective values to address immediate descent when loading or skipping into flight. It also revised the GNS530 connection to the HSI and corrected altimeter issues.

External work includes a supporting ground scene

The X-Trident listing includes external loads, cargo dropping, animated ground crew and a custom fuel truck. Load configurations can be saved and recalled, giving the package activities beyond transporting passengers.

Boeing CH-47D Chinook

The Chinook's tandem-rotor arrangement places one rotor above each end of a long cargo cabin. The opposing rotor systems provide the lifting configuration, leaving the rear available for a loading ramp. Vertol originated the design before it became part of Boeing.

The CH-47 family has evolved through several major versions and specialised derivatives. The D model in this catalogue has its own systems and cockpit identity. Its control and loading arrangements should be understood as those of a tandem-rotor transport, rather than a scaled-up conventional helicopter.

Boeing F/A-18E

The Super Hornet family comprises the single-seat F/A-18E and tandem-seat F/A-18F. Although the name and outline recall the earlier Hornet, the Super Hornet is a substantially developed aircraft with a larger airframe. Twin engines, outward-canted fins and carrier equipment define its configuration.

The E and F also make a useful image distinction: a two-seat photograph depicts the F variant. The MSFS entry here is identified by its own model designation, and its simulated systems should be judged from its developer documentation.
