FOR AIRCRAFT DEVELOPERS

Research aircraft and systems

Find aircraft background, systems descriptions and manuals for the aircraft you are researching. Each note keeps its source and version context close by.

Simulator manuals describe the developer’s implementation. Aircraft background is research-based; pilot accounts describe an individual’s experience. Coverage here is limited to the selected notes and linked resources, not the full contents of every manual.

The original tow route had a simulator limitation

The June 2024 guide describes a tow pattern returning towards the departure airfield before release. It says extended historical tow missions were unavailable then.

Waco CG-4A Hadrian

The CG-4A used a fabric-covered high-wing structure and a cargo cabin with a nose that swung upward for loading. Allied forces used the unpowered glider in Second World War airborne operations, commonly behind a C-47 tug.

The simulator models the glider's own trim, tow-release and landing-gear-cradle controls, including in the combined C-47 package.

Press, hold and release have different effects

The Scout/Wasp guide describes an autopilot-master interaction that captures stabilised pitch, roll and speed according to mode. Holding the control allows manual input, with release returning to the documented stabilised behaviour. The button's function changes with its state.

Autostab uses press-and-release interaction

AUTOSTAB corresponds to AP MASTER: holding it permits manual control; releasing captures the conditions used by the selected mode. A separate release button disengages the system.
