THE AIRCRAFT

Meet Junkers F13

The F 13 brought metal construction into early commercial air transport. Its cantilever low wing and enclosed cabin distinguished it from many contemporary fabric-covered, braced aircraft. It served operators in several countries and appeared on wheels as well as floats.

The cockpit and passenger accommodation reflect the early airline era rather than modern expectations of a common enclosed space. Modern flying replicas are also part of its present-day photographic record; captions identify a replica when that is what the image shows.
