FOR AIRCRAFT DEVELOPERS

Research aircraft and systems

Find aircraft background, systems descriptions and manuals for the aircraft you are researching. Each note keeps its source and version context close by.

Simulator manuals describe the developer’s implementation. Aircraft background is research-based; pilot accounts describe an individual’s experience. Coverage here is limited to the selected notes and linked resources, not the full contents of every manual.

Press, hold and release have different effects

The Scout/Wasp guide describes an autopilot-master interaction that captures stabilised pitch, roll and speed according to mode. Holding the control allows manual input, with release returning to the documented stabilised behaviour. The button's function changes with its state.

Radial propulsion and cockpit layout

The manual specifies the 360 hp M14P and a variable-pitch propeller. Its cockpit illustration identifies landing-gear controls, a flap lock and the STAU autopilot switch. The short manual does not detail the trim axes or linkage.

Yakovlev Yak-18T

The Yak-18T in Nemeth's manual is a civil four-seat aircraft powered by a 360 hp, nine-cylinder M14P radial engine. Its variable-pitch propeller, retractable landing gear and flap control form the represented configuration.

The cockpit layout labels the gear controls, flap lock and STAU autopilot switch. The short manual gives a 108-knot cruise figure but leaves the exact trim axes unresolved.

Slats, autopilot arming and a towing configuration

The Norden guide identifies electrically operated slats and a separate autopilot arming switch and breaker. It also describes a banner-towing variant specific to MSFS 2024. These features are documented for the Got Friends Norden.

Zlin Aviation Savage Norden

The Norden develops the Savage family's high-wing, tandem-seat layout for short-field work. Leading-edge slats and substantial landing gear distinguish it from the simpler Savage Cub.

Got Friends documents electric slat controls, autopilot arming and a banner-towing configuration in its MSFS 2024 implementation.

A restored simulator cockpit

Flight Replicas' DH.60G has a control stick and pitch-trim lever, alongside modern radio, transponder, electrical switches and a two-axis autopilot. The Gipsy II drives a fixed-pitch propeller. Its fixed tailwheel gear has no steerable tailwheel in the manual.

Folding wings and speed references

Wing folding is available only with the aircraft stationary. The handbook gives 85 mph cruise, 102 mph normal maximum and 125 mph dive figures, with their separate meanings retained.

de Havilland DH.60G Gipsy Moth

The DH.60 Moth developed as a 1920s two-seat touring and training biplane. Its wooden construction and folding wings suited club and private ownership, allowing the aircraft to occupy less hangar space.

Flight Replicas represents a restored DH.60G with a Gipsy II engine, radio, transponder and two-axis autopilot. Those modernised cockpit features sit alongside a control stick and pitch-trim lever.

de Havilland DH.85 Leopard Moth

The Leopard Moth succeeded the DH.80 Puss Moth with a lighter plywood structure while retaining the Gipsy Major engine. Its enclosed cabin seats three, beneath a high wing. The prototype flew on 27 May 1933.

Flight Replicas represents a restored aircraft with radio, transponder and autopilot equipment. Its cockpit has a yoke, a separate pitch-trim lever and an airbrake control.

de Havilland DH.94 Moth Minor

The Moth Minor developed the Moth touring and training role into a low-wing monoplane. Wooden construction and folding wings accompanied the two-seat layout. The prototype flew on 22 June 1937; Coupe versions added enclosed hinged cockpit tops.

Flight Replicas represents restored open-cockpit and Coupe aircraft with modernised communications and a two-axis autopilot. A stick, pitch-trim lever and flap control remain part of the documented cockpit.
