FOR AIRCRAFT DEVELOPERS

Research aircraft and systems

Find aircraft background, systems descriptions and manuals for the aircraft you are researching. Each note keeps its source and version context close by.

Simulator manuals describe the developer’s implementation. Aircraft background is research-based; pilot accounts describe an individual’s experience. Coverage here is limited to the selected notes and linked resources, not the full contents of every manual.

Republic P-47 Thunderbolt ↗Research-based aircraft background

Republic P-47 Thunderbolt

The Thunderbolt combined a powerful radial engine and eight .50-calibre machine guns in a fighter that also became a major ground-attack aircraft. The Smithsonian places it among the principal American fighters of the Second World War and records its ancestry through Republic’s earlier Seversky designs. The P-47D and the later P-47N retain that family name while representing different configurations.

Engine and rotor management

The simulation includes manual engine and rotor-speed management and low rotor inertia. The developer describes using recordings of Mini-500 engine and rotor sounds.

Revolution Mini-500 ↗Research-based aircraft background

Revolution Mini-500

Dennis Fetters developed the single-seat Mini-500 as a homebuilt helicopter in the 1990s. The design has a compact cabin and light rotor system.

VSKYLABS models low rotor inertia and manual engine and rotor-speed management. The developer describes research with helicopter pilots and sound recorded from the aircraft as part of its development work.

The X-Plane 11 flight computer supplies travelling information

The earlier Regent product describes a flight computer displaying fuel burn, endurance, speed and wind information. This feature list applies to the X-Plane 11 release.

The earlier release uses a popup for engine diagnostics

The X-Plane 11 feature list describes a popup engine-diagnostics display. Its interface is distinct from the EFB engine-condition page documented for X-Plane 12.

The X-Plane 12 EFB can change the livery

The DR400/180 Regent’s EFB provides dynamic paint customisation, allowing colours to be edited without an external paint kit. Static liveries remain separately selectable.

Engine condition has its own EFB display

The developer lists an EFB engine-condition page and simulated spark-plug fouling and vapour lock. These are documented product features rather than independently tested behaviour.
