FOR AIRCRAFT DEVELOPERS

Research aircraft and systems

Find aircraft background, systems descriptions and manuals for the aircraft you are researching. Each note keeps its source and version context close by.

Simulator manuals describe the developer’s implementation. Aircraft background is research-based; pilot accounts describe an individual’s experience. Coverage here is limited to the selected notes and linked resources, not the full contents of every manual.

Sukhoi Su-27 Flanker ↗Research-based aircraft background

Sukhoi Su-27 Flanker

The Su-27 was developed as a Soviet all-weather fighter-interceptor to counter the F-15. The U.S. Air Force museum describes the two-seat Su-27UB trainer as retaining combat capability, with dual controls and the instructor in the rear cockpit. That trainer entered Soviet service in 1986. The family also became a basis for later Sukhoi combat-aircraft developments.

The SU95X systems project

Headwind describes SU95X as a maintained project derived from FlyByWire systems. That development lineage describes the simulator implementation, whose flight deck and systems remain documented by Headwind.

The documented SU95 package

The official aircraft release API lists SU95 assets with v0.6.1 in December 2024. Later v0.8.1 assets for A339 identify the A330 project, so they are kept separate from the Superjet's release history.

Sukhoi Superjet 100

The Superjet 100 is a regional airliner powered by two SaM146 turbofans. Its first flight took place on 19 May 2008 at Komsomolsk-on-Amur. Type certification followed in January 2011, and Armavia began commercial passenger flying that April.

Headwind's SU95X is a simulator project derived from FlyByWire systems. Its release record includes a SU95 package in v0.6.1, published in December 2024; later A339-only assets belong to a separate aircraft project.

The represented cockpit and flap documentation

The manual identifies elevator-wheel and rudder trim, retractable gear and an arrestor hook. Its cockpit uses knots, while some narrative passages retain mph. The guide's two-position flap description conflicts with its explanation of an 18-degree intermediate takeoff setting.

The bonus Mk.Ib

The package includes a Mk.Ib with an earlier windscreen. Flight Replicas states that it has no dedicated flight model, so the shared simulation and the external variant differences are described separately.

Supermarine Seafire Mk.III / Mk.Ib

The Seafire Mk.III developed from the Mk.IIc, adding manually folding wings for carrier deck and hangar storage. Its naval equipment includes retractable landing gear and an arrestor hook. The family retained its Spitfire design lineage.

Flight Replicas includes a bonus Mk.Ib with an earlier windscreen but no separate flight model. The cockpit identifies elevator and rudder trim, and its airspeed instrument uses knots.

Different trim-tab functions

The POH's sections 7.3–7.5 identify mechanical controls, ground-adjustable rudder and right-aileron tabs and an elevator tab adjusted in flight. Their adjustment methods differ, while electrically operated flaps use discrete settings.

TL-Ultralight Sting S4

The Sting S4's POH describes mechanical primary controls. An in-flight adjustable elevator tab provides pitch trim; tabs on the rudder and right aileron are adjusted on the ground. Electric flaps have discrete settings.

FSReborn's simulator product includes custom Rotax behaviour, maintenance and ballistic recovery, with MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 support.
