Bell 407

The Bell 407 retained a family resemblance to the 206L while adopting a four-bladed main rotor and associated structural changes. It is a single-engine helicopter used for passenger, emergency-service and utility missions.

The rotor is an immediate visual clue when comparing a 407 with the two-bladed JetRanger and LongRanger. Cockpit equipment has also evolved through the programme. Simulator implementations can therefore share the 407 name while representing different avionics and assistance systems.

A separately developed wide-body simulation

FlightFactor's 767 has its own custom systems and avionics documentation, including cockpit-interaction facilities. The published product description covers hydraulic and electrical behaviour, loading, maintenance-related features and flight-management functions. Its relationship to the 757 does not make the two add-ons' controls or supported interfaces interchangeable.

Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner ↗Research-based aircraft background

Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner

The 787 grew from Boeing's 7E7 programme and first flew in 2009. Airline service began in 2011. The family uses a composite-intensive airframe, a swept flexible wing and two large turbofans, with -8, -9 and -10 versions serving different capacity and range needs.

The 787-10 is the longest of those three variants. Its cabin size and mission figures should not be borrowed from the smaller -8. Simulator avionics and automation also depend on the represented product and update, making its developer documentation the relevant systems reference.

A business-jet simulation that begins before the cockpit

Hot Start's Challenger includes an FBO environment with fuel orders, de-icing and passenger coordination, alongside a quicker simulator mode. Its Pro Line 21 Advanced avionics are modelled as separate computers exchanging information over simulated data buses. The developer also provides system-study windows, allowing a simmer to inspect the electrical and physical models behind the cockpit indications.

Bombardier Challenger 650

The Challenger began with a Bill Lear concept taken forward by Canadair in the 1970s. Its broad cabin and supercritical wing were central parts of the design. Later ownership and development under Bombardier produced a long sequence of engine, avionics and cabin updates.

The Challenger 650 belongs to a much later generation than the original 600. Hot Start's simulator product represents that specific aircraft and its systems environment. A family photograph of a 604 is not presented as an exact picture of the 650's equipment.

Cessna 185F ↗Research-based aircraft background

Cessna 185F

The Skywagon is a six-seat member of Cessna's utility-aircraft line. Its fixed conventional undercarriage distinguishes it from the tricycle-gear Stationair family. The prototype flew in 1960, with production aircraft following in 1961.

Floats and skis expanded the uses of an aircraft already suited to carrying people and supplies. The 185F in the catalogue is a particular development of the design; its developer's package determines which undercarriages, avionics and other options are available in the simulator.

Configuration and flight-model development

Thranda's Caravan development includes configurable avionics and changes to its X-Plane flight model. The published history records trim balance, propeller drag, G1000 pitch-button behaviour, landing-gear springiness and stall-warning calibration changes. The release number is useful context when comparing observations about this particular Caravan.

Cessna Citation CJ4 ↗Research-based aircraft background

Cessna Citation CJ4

The CitationJet programme began with the Model 525, first flown in 1991, and developed through a series of larger and more capable CJ aircraft. The CJ4 is the Model 525C, a later branch of that family with a different wing and a stretched cabin.

Its cockpit should not be confused with that of an early CitationJet or M2. The simulator implementations and Working Title documentation describe the CJ4's own avionics, flight guidance and equipment, which are more useful than generic specifications for the whole Citation range.

Cessna Citation X

The Citation X is Cessna's Model 750, first flown in 1993. Its strongly swept wing and large rear-mounted engine nacelles set it apart from earlier Citations. The later X+ stretched the cabin and introduced further changes.

The type is an interesting contrast with the smaller CJ family and the newer Longitude. In X-Plane, its flight deck and powered control systems have their own documentation; the Citation name alone is not a guide to the controls or avionics installed in a particular model.
