FOR AIRCRAFT DEVELOPERS

Research aircraft and systems

Find aircraft background, systems descriptions and manuals for the aircraft you are researching. Each note keeps its source and version context close by.

Simulator manuals describe the developer’s implementation. Aircraft background is research-based; pilot accounts describe an individual’s experience. Coverage here is limited to the selected notes and linked resources, not the full contents of every manual.

Cessna 310 ↗Research-based aircraft background

Cessna 310

The Cessna 310 is a piston twin with a low wing, retractable landing gear and a side-by-side cabin cockpit. Blackbird’s 310R documentation places it in Cessna’s 1950s light-twin lineage and notes that the last 310R left the factory in 1981. Its twin engines, propeller controls and fuel management add another layer of cockpit work to the familiar yoke-and-pedal arrangement.

The 310R guide identifies dual yokes, electric pitch trim and separate pitch, roll and yaw trim wheels. The KAP140 automatic-flight system is part of that rendition.

Cessna 340

Carenado’s C340 II presents a piston-twin cockpit with two GNS430 navigation units. The developer’s X-Plane 11 package includes a dedicated fuel-system description as well as normal and emergency procedures. Its paired engine and navigation controls place fuel management alongside the flight path as an explicit part of the cockpit documentation.

The rendition supports an optional RealityXP GTN750 installation. That choice changes the navigation interface without changing the aircraft model named by the product. The GNS430-equipped cockpit and optional GTN installation remain separately described equipment choices.

Cessna 414 Chancellor ↗Research-based aircraft background

Cessna 414 Chancellor

The Cessna 414 combined a spacious pressurised fuselage with two turbocharged, direct-drive piston engines. It offered a step up from smaller unpressurised twins while avoiding the geared engines of the larger 421.

The later 414A Chancellor introduced a longer wing with integral fuel tanks and an extended nose. Surviving aircraft often carry engine, propeller and aerodynamic modifications. Flysimware models a 414AW with a RAM IV conversion and winglets, so a stock 414A specification is useful family context rather than an exact description of that add-on.

Fuel management includes automatic pump logic

The guide’s simulation notes describe automatic boost and recirculation pump management, transfer-valve and scavenge logic, and custom gravity crossflow behavior. Fuel temperature also responds to the wing skin, fuel mass and returned fuel.

Three axes, different control paths

The Longitude guide describes mechanical pitch and roll controls, hydraulically operated roll spoilers and an electronically controlled rudder. Its simulated hydraulic failures can affect rudder, yaw-damper and spoiler authority. The guide also marks locks, disconnects and secondary trim as unmodelled in the documented version. Engine FADEC, the APU and fuel transfer have their own detailed sections.
