FOR AIRCRAFT DEVELOPERS

Research aircraft and systems

Find aircraft background, systems descriptions and manuals for the aircraft you are researching. Each note keeps its source and version context close by.

Simulator manuals describe the developer’s implementation. Aircraft background is research-based; pilot accounts describe an individual’s experience. Coverage here is limited to the selected notes and linked resources, not the full contents of every manual.

Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneer ↗Research-based aircraft background

Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneer

The Twin Pioneer followed Scottish Aviation’s single-engine Pioneer as a short takeoff and landing transport. Initially conceived for 16 passengers, it also entered RAF service carrying troops and supplies to small operating areas.

Shorts 360 ↗Research-based aircraft background

Shorts 360

The Shorts 360 is the larger civil transport represented alongside the 330 in BlackBox’s Regional Series. Twin turboprops, a high wing and a rectangular cabin give it a utility-oriented shape, with a flight deck built around yokes, engine and propeller management, trim and retractable landing gear. Its systems tables distinguish it from the smaller 330.

Primary control rods and cables carry pilot commands directly, and tabs provide pitch, roll and yaw trim. The manual lists three nonzero flap positions for the 360. Both control columns have stick shakers, adding a warning function to the manually controlled cockpit.

Sikorsky S-76 ↗Research-based aircraft background

Sikorsky S-76

The S-76 was Sikorsky's first helicopter developed for the civil market. Twin turbines, a four-bladed main rotor and retractable gear supported passenger, offshore and emergency-service roles.

Engines and avionics changed across the programme. An S-76C+ photograph shows that particular version; simulator manuals identify the cockpit and autopilot equipment represented by their models.

Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk

Sikorsky describes the UH-60M in transport, rescue and external-load roles, with twin engines and a reconfigurable cabin. Its M-model brochure identifies digital avionics, wide-chord rotor blades and the 701D engine. Later Black Hawk modernisation proposals concern different configurations.

The historical-report-based rendition

The developer describes using historical flight reports for the Camel's flying characteristics. Optional rudder assistance changes the simulator control setup, while the tailskid cart addresses ground handling. The listing identifies the rotary engine and v1.2.0 X-Plane 12 product.

Sopwith F.1 Camel

NHAdrian represents the Sopwith F.1 Camel as a rotary-engined First World War aircraft. The developer draws on historical flight reports for its X-Plane 12 rendition and offers optional rudder assistance.

The package also includes a tailskid cart for ground handling. The product description identifies version 1.2.0 and documents the assistance as a simulator option.

Stampe SV.4C ↗Research-based aircraft background

Stampe SV.4C

The simulated Stampe SV.4C has a 140 hp Renault 4P05 engine and a two-blade fixed-pitch wooden propeller. Fixed landing gear and no flap detents are documented. Pilot and instructor cockpit diagrams identify the same primary controls and an elevator-compensator lever.

A sailplane cockpit with separate engine electrics

The Stemme S12G manual identifies digital trim indication and gliding instruments, together with separate engine and airframe electrical controls. The propulsion installation is part of a self-launching sailplane, so its controls have a different purpose from those in a conventional touring single.
