The amphibious configuration has wheel retraction and water rudders. Its CAS and IAS speed tables disagree, so their labels and values are retained as a documentation conflict.

The Scout configurations in Hangar Studios 713's handbook adapt a high-wing utility aircraft to wheels and floats. The 26-inch-wheel and amphibious versions use the 180 hp O-360-C1G. The 35-inch-tyre Denali uses a 210 hp IO-390-A1B6.
The amphibian adds retractable wheels and water rudders. Cockpit equipment includes a pitch-trim control and flap handle, with an AS307 autopilot in the glass-panel arrangement.

Mechanical controls and trim
American Champion's SM-601 revision B describes cable-operated primary controls and an aerodynamically balanced elevator. Pitch trim acts through a cable-operated tab on the left elevator. The steerable tailwheel remains part of the fixed landing-gear arrangement.
