FOR AIRCRAFT DEVELOPERS

Research aircraft and systems

Find aircraft background, systems descriptions and manuals for the aircraft you are researching. Each note keeps its source and version context close by.

Simulator manuals describe the developer’s implementation. Aircraft background is research-based; pilot accounts describe an individual’s experience. Coverage here is limited to the selected notes and linked resources, not the full contents of every manual.

Piper PA-44 Seminole ↗Research-based aircraft background

Piper PA-44 Seminole

Piper presents the Seminole as a multi-engine training aircraft with two Lycoming engines and full-feathering, constant-speed propellers. The current production description includes Garmin G1000 NXi avionics; earlier aircraft and simulator editions may have very different instrument panels.

Released product and variants

VSKYLABS models the R66 with its RR300 turbine, auxiliary fuel system and a cockpit combining analog instruments with G1000-based avionics. Its default livery was inspired by BC Helicopters’ around-the-world flight.

Robinson R66 ↗Research-based aircraft background

Robinson R66

The five-seat R66 uses a Rolls-Royce RR300 turboshaft and has a separate baggage compartment. Its compact cabin and two-bladed main rotor retain the family outline of the smaller piston-powered R44. Certification was obtained in 2010.

Engine indications and management are specific to the R66's turbine system. Avionics and stabilisation equipment vary by installation and simulator model.

Choose what returns on the next flight

The tablet separates non-essential, flight-critical and avionics state-saving options. The manual says fuel and payload are always retained and explains how defaults adapt to the starting phase of flight. Saving is gradual, taking roughly a minute, and requires a proper simulator shutdown to preserve changes.

A stormscope with a documented simulation method

Black Square describes its stormscope as a depiction of storm activity built from precipitation data and estimated electrical potential. That explains what produces the simulated indications. The feature booklet also presents a choice of period and GPS avionics, including the RNAV 511, with instrument friction and sticking among the modelled behaviours.

Scheibe SF-28 Tandem Falke ↗Research-based aircraft background

Scheibe SF-28 Tandem Falke

The SF-28 developed the earlier SF-25 concept with tandem rather than side-by-side seating. Egon Scheibe’s design first flew in May 1971, pairing powered touring capability with gliding flight.

VSKYLABS represents the SF-28A for X-Plane 12 with a modernised cockpit. Its documentation describes simplified NESIS-style digital avionics, rear-seat operation with limitations and optional AviTab integration.

Change the panel through the cockpit tablet

The EFB’s Options page switches between classic and modern centre-panel avionics. Its Ground page controls doors and cabin lighting, while the moving map displays a route created in the World Map.

Sikorsky MH-60 Seahawk / Jayhawk

Miltech and Blackbird Simulations' MH60 package includes the MH-60S Sierra, MH-60R Romeo and MH-60T Tango. Sierra serves utility and rescue roles, Romeo carries maritime mission equipment and Tango represents the Coast Guard configuration.

The simulated MH-60T has its own exterior and cabin but shares the S/R cockpit and avionics, as documented by the developer.

Sikorsky S-76 ↗Research-based aircraft background

Sikorsky S-76

The S-76 was Sikorsky's first helicopter developed for the civil market. Twin turbines, a four-bladed main rotor and retractable gear supported passenger, offshore and emergency-service roles.

Engines and avionics changed across the programme. An S-76C+ photograph shows that particular version; simulator manuals identify the cockpit and autopilot equipment represented by their models.

Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk

Sikorsky describes the UH-60M in transport, rescue and external-load roles, with twin engines and a reconfigurable cabin. Its M-model brochure identifies digital avionics, wide-chord rotor blades and the 701D engine. Later Black Hawk modernisation proposals concern different configurations.
