FOR AIRCRAFT DEVELOPERS

Research aircraft and systems

Find aircraft background, systems descriptions and manuals for the aircraft you are researching. Each note keeps its source and version context close by.

Simulator manuals describe the developer’s implementation. Aircraft background is research-based; pilot accounts describe an individual’s experience. Coverage here is limited to the selected notes and linked resources, not the full contents of every manual.

Piaggio P.180 Avanti II ↗Research-based aircraft background

Piaggio P.180 Avanti II

The P.180 combines forward aerodynamic surfaces, rear-mounted pusher propellers and a pressurised executive cabin. FlightFX's manual describes cable-and-bellcrank aileron controls and elevator runs using rods and cables.

Pitch trim moves the horizontal stabiliser, while roll trim uses a servo tab on the right aileron. The original MSFS 2020 and native MSFS 2024 packages have separate product descriptions.

Wood, fabric and a scanned aircraft

Emerald describes using a high-resolution 3D scan of an original Air Camper and recordings of a Continental A65 for its rendition. The manual identifies the parasol-wing structure, open cockpit and largely wood-and-fabric construction.

Cockpit configuration and assistance

The manual lists no wing flaps. Its carburettor heat uses the simulator's Spoiler axis, while the EFB and silent autopilot are convenience features. The published cruise range is 70–75 mph, with an approximately 35 mph stall figure.

Pietenpol Air Camper

The Air Camper is a 1930s-era homebuilt with a parasol wing supported by external struts above the open cockpit. Wood and fabric form most of its construction. Emerald's rendition uses a four-cylinder, 65 hp Continental A65.

The MSFS 2024 package includes Classic and bushwheel configurations, an EFB and silent autopilot assistance. The EFB and autopilot are simulator convenience features.

Build a cockpit for the earlier PC-12/47

Thranda’s X-Plane 12 package describes the PT6A-67B-powered PC-12/47, with a configurable instrument panel and support for separately supplied RealityXP navigators. Instruments can be moved between panel positions and saved as presets. This is a different represented configuration from the NGX in MSFS 2024.

The tablet connects loading, equipment and systems

The PC-12’s EFB includes individual-seat loading, centre-of-gravity plotting, paint customisation and engine-mode options. Thranda also documents an electrical model with bus-tie breakers, standby and non-essential buses, external power and failures, plus shaker/pusher logic. These are published simulator features, with their controls described in the package documentation.

An expansion for Carenado’s X-Plane 11 PC-12

SimCoders requires the Carenado X-Plane 11 PC-12 for this REP. Its engine additions include custom temperature evolution, throttle response, propeller-governor behaviour and hot starts. A maintenance interface, walkaround and saved battery and engine condition add continuity between flights. This listing does not establish compatibility with Thranda’s newer PC-12.
