FOR AIRCRAFT DEVELOPERS

Research aircraft and systems

Find aircraft background, systems descriptions and manuals for the aircraft you are researching. Each note keeps its source and version context close by.

Simulator manuals describe the developer’s implementation. Aircraft background is research-based; pilot accounts describe an individual’s experience. Coverage here is limited to the selected notes and linked resources, not the full contents of every manual.

Jabiru J170 ↗Research-based aircraft background

Jabiru J170

The J170 shares Jabiru's two-seat, strut-braced high-wing layout with the J160. Fixed tricycle gear, the Jabiru 2200 four-cylinder engine and electric flaps form the configuration described in IRIS's manual. Wing and weight differences identify the J170 within the pair.

The simulator's Option A and Option B refer to avionics arrangements. Both use the documented central-stick and push-pull control layout.

Junkers A50 Junior (modern)

The modern A50 Junior revives the open tandem cockpits and corrugated-metal appearance of the 1929 Junkers design. It uses a Rotax 912iS engine and contemporary equipment. The developer's background records European ultralight approval in 2022, followed by US light sport approval.

VSKYLABS models this modern aircraft. Its X-Plane cockpit uses G1000-based displays in both seats; the real aircraft's described installation is Garmin G3X.

Junkers F13

The F 13 introduced metal construction to early commercial air transport, with a cantilever low wing, corrugated skin and an enclosed passenger cabin. It served operators in several countries on wheels and floats.

The crew flew from a cockpit separate from the enclosed passenger accommodation. Modern flying replicas also appear in the photographic record and are identified in their captions.
