FOR AIRCRAFT DEVELOPERS

Research aircraft and systems

Find aircraft background, systems descriptions and manuals for the aircraft you are researching. Each note keeps its source and version context close by.

Simulator manuals describe the developer’s implementation. Aircraft background is research-based; pilot accounts describe an individual’s experience. Coverage here is limited to the selected notes and linked resources, not the full contents of every manual.

A retractable Legacy with its own avionics suite

Aerobask’s XP12 Legacy RG represents a 310 hp IO-550 aircraft with an Avidyne EXP5000 display and DFC90 autopilot. Its documented instruments also include a VM1000C engine monitor, oxygen controller, angle-of-attack display and MD302 standby unit. This cockpit uses Avidyne equipment, unlike Aerobask's G1000 installations in other aircraft.

A choice of navigation equipment

The manual’s Options screen shows WT 430, PMS GTN650, TDS GTN650 and Classic selections. This records the navigation choices presented by the add-on; the manual does not establish that third-party avionics packages are included with the aircraft purchase.

NISUS gyroplane ↗Research-based aircraft background

NISUS gyroplane

The NISUS has an enclosed cabin, an autorotating main rotor for lift and a separate propeller for forward thrust.

VSKYLABS' X-Plane 12 aircraft includes simplified NESIS III-style avionics and an optional head-up display. Those instruments belong to the simulator implementation.

Pilatus PC-24 ↗Research-based aircraft background

Pilatus PC-24

Pilatus designed the PC-24 to combine a business-jet cabin with access to shorter and less conventional airfields. Rear-mounted Williams engines leave the wing clear, and a large cargo door supports several cabin roles. It first flew in 2015.

The PC-24 shares the PC-12's utility emphasis through a separate jet airframe, propulsion system and flight deck. Simulator documentation describes the represented avionics, ground and cargo features.

Pilatus PC-6 B2 ↗Research-based aircraft background

Pilatus PC-6 B2

The Porter first flew with piston power in 1959. Turboprop versions later became familiar in parachuting and remote-area transport, retaining the narrow fuselage, high wing and long landing-gear legs.

The simulator represents the PC-6 B2. Engines, limits and equipment differ across Porter variants; wheel and float options, cabin layouts and avionics are documented for each package.

A simpler Warrior, with a distinct electrical fallback

The Warrior II manual describes the fixed-gear, 160 hp configuration and two wing fuel tanks. An avionics power switch controls its radio bus, while an emergency bus switch provides another supply path if that switch circuit fails. The cockpit has separate controls for these electrical systems.
