FOR AIRCRAFT DEVELOPERS

Research aircraft and systems

Find aircraft background, systems descriptions and manuals for the aircraft you are researching. Each note keeps its source and version context close by.

Simulator manuals describe the developer’s implementation. Aircraft background is research-based; pilot accounts describe an individual’s experience. Coverage here is limited to the selected notes and linked resources, not the full contents of every manual.

Embraer E-Jets ↗Research-based aircraft background

Embraer E-Jets

Embraer developed the original E-Jets around regional and shorter mainline airline routes. Two underwing engines and a conventional tail surround a cabin wider than the company's earlier narrow regional jets. Different fuselage lengths serve different passenger capacities.

The original family is distinct from the later E2 programme. X-Crafts's documentation also separates airframe variants, avionics options and the Lineage business-aircraft development. Each simulator product identifies its included variants and equipment.

FADEC, cruise-speed control and three spoiler roles

Aerobask pairs Laminar's GFC700 with custom FADEC and current-speed-control logic in the Phenom 300. The spoilers perform distinct jobs as roll aids, ground spoilers and speed brakes. The published systems also include pressurisation, oxygen and standby instrumentation, as described in the developer documentation.

HPG’s earlier H135 has its own avionics and assistance choices

The v1.4 notes describe automatic PMS GTN750 display on the lower screens when installed, with different flight-model behaviour in Advanced and Basic/Xbox modes. An EFB could show browser or screen-capture content, but required additional setup files distributed through the developer’s Discord at that time.

Eurocopter EC135 ↗Research-based aircraft background

Eurocopter EC135

The EC135, later renamed H135, developed from the MBB Bo 108 programme. Its enclosed tail rotor, twin turbines and practical cabin made it a useful platform for emergency services and other operators. The type first flew in 1994 and entered service in 1996.

The H135 name covers later development of the same lineage. Mission interiors, avionics and flight-control equipment differ between operators and versions. The photograph depicts a medical installation; simulator documentation identifies the included mission equipment.

F-23A (hypothetical package variant) ↗Research-based aircraft background

F-23A (hypothetical package variant)

The F-23A is Top Mach Studios' imagined production development of the YF-23, not a built operational aircraft. Its avionics, weapons and performance are developer-defined. The package supplies custom fly-by-wire controls, twin jet engines and retractable landing gear.

Got Friends Astro ONE ↗Research-based aircraft background

Got Friends Astro ONE

The Astro ONE is Got Friends' creative electric-VTOL design inspired by the Jetson ONE. Its manual describes an independent custom physics engine and a race-focused cockpit with terrain tracking, hover, sport and boost modes.

The developer takes liberties with the real design, including its avionics, guards, lighting and assistance features. Emerald Scenery Design and community contributors supplied racetracks for the package.

Grumman F-14 Tomcat ↗Research-based aircraft background

Grumman F-14 Tomcat

The Tomcat was developed for the US Navy after the F-111B programme ended. Twin engines, widely spaced tails and variable-sweep wings supported fleet defence and, later, strike missions.

Pilot and radar-intercept officer divided the work between two cockpits. Engines, avionics and other systems changed between F-14 versions; the X-Plane documentation describes the model included in that simulation.

Jabiru J160 ↗Research-based aircraft background

Jabiru J160

The J160 is a strut-braced high-wing aircraft with fixed tricycle landing gear and two seats, intended for training and recreation. Its Jabiru 2200 four-cylinder engine accompanies electrically operated flaps.

IRIS's shared J160/J170 manual describes a common central stick and Teleflex push-pull primary controls. The J160 and J170 differ in wing and weight; the package offers Option A and Option B avionics arrangements.

Jabiru J170 ↗Research-based aircraft background

Jabiru J170

The J170 shares Jabiru's two-seat, strut-braced high-wing layout with the J160. Fixed tricycle gear, the Jabiru 2200 four-cylinder engine and electric flaps form the configuration described in IRIS's manual. Wing and weight differences identify the J170 within the pair.

The simulator's Option A and Option B refer to avionics arrangements. Both use the documented central-stick and push-pull control layout.
