FOR AIRCRAFT DEVELOPERS

Research aircraft and systems

Find aircraft background, systems descriptions and manuals for the aircraft you are researching. Each note keeps its source and version context close by.

Simulator manuals describe the developer’s implementation. Aircraft background is research-based; pilot accounts describe an individual’s experience. Coverage here is limited to the selected notes and linked resources, not the full contents of every manual.

Vans Aircraft RV-10

The RV-10 first flew in 2003. It combines a low wing, fixed tricycle gear and a substantial enclosed cabin, with kits supplied for amateur construction. It was the first four-seat aircraft in Van's established RV range.

Homebuilt aircraft can differ in engines, avionics and interior equipment. The X-Plane implementation consequently represents a particular cockpit choice, including the avionics and trim controls documented by Laminar, rather than a universal factory-standard RV-10 panel.

The cargo glider has its own cockpit

The CG-4A guide identifies trim on all three axes, a tow-release lever and a separate landing-gear-cradle release. These controls belong to the unpowered glider, not to the C-47 supplied alongside it. The source is consequently attached to the Waco's own aircraft page.

Waco CG-4A Hadrian

The CG-4A paired a high wing with a fabric-covered structure and a cargo cabin whose nose could swing upward for loading. It served Allied airborne operations during the Second World War, commonly towed by a C-47.

The Waco and its tug were a working pair, but their controls and propulsion are fundamentally different. The simulator glider has its own trim, tow-release and landing-gear-cradle controls. It therefore has a separate reference page even when supplied in a combined C-47 package.
